For Ladies Only: Urban Decay Pocket Rocket Lip Gloss

It has been a rough few weeks. Why? One boy’s particular actions near lead me to cardiac arrest! Ahhh…we’ve all been there, I’m sure…

The worst part about feeling down is that it usually means you (or at least I…), want to sit at home sulking, watching Bravo TV, when the last thing anyone needs is to be watching more Housewives! However, on a recent eve when I was feeling the urge to do just that, I got a delivery that included two of Urban Decay’s Pocket Rockets and I near jumped out of my desk chair. Given that my job entails mostly writing about beauty products, I come across countless, but few that are as smile-inducing as these UD lip glosses (the only one that comes close is this). Each shade of the gloss comes with a different male image pictured on the cap; just tilt the gloss tube and the dapper hunk is stripped to his undies (the cap is double-sided so there are front and rear photos).

It’s just one of those beauty products that puts a girl in a good mood and, with that, I packed two in my bag and headed to a party my friend Meg helped organize for Stylecaster. I immediately gave one to Meg and her excitement was proof positive that this is a gloss that could put a smile on most any gal’s face (especially since the male on the gloss I gave her had a construction worker pictured…I kept the doctor for myself!).

Given that the tube is the main draw of this product, it would be easy to think that the gloss formula would be a throwaway, but that’s not at all the case. The gloss is creme brulee flavored, high-shine, relatively long-lasting, and not super sticky. The formulation also contains hyaluronic spheres, known to improve cellular function, prevent dehydration, and fill in lines and wrinkles.

Ladies, go out and buy two — one for yourself and one for a friend! A Pocket Rocket is something any lady could use…

4 Ways to Transform Clothes You Own Into Holiday Attire

If you haven’t figured out what you’re wearing over the holidays, it’s about time to think about it. There is nothing worse than tossing everything you own out of your closet an hour before you’re supposed to be somewhere, and all the while screaming, “I thought I had more options!” Trust me. It’s an ugly scene.

But there’s no need to spend money on a fancy new outfit right before Christmas… you can always make something you already own new again with a few simple tricks. Let’s talk about it.

Dress + Blazer. Remember that dress you wore to one of your parties last year? Re-work it this season by adding a blazer. You can go the cool route by rolling the sleeves to the elbow, or play the sophisticate by cinching with thick belt (as long as the blazer isn’t too heavy).

Skirt + Long-sleeve tee + Extras galore. I bet you have a classic full skirt. And a long-sleeve tee. (If you don’t, you have my permission to brave the mall this crazy-busy holiday week.) It’s time to play around with extras! Stack bangles up one arm and rock some bright drop earrings, or try out a statement wreath necklace and a couple of fantastic cocktail rings. Go bold with accessories to re-energize old outfits.

LBD + Colored heels. Channel Audrey Hepburn, but add a kick to your LBD. Simply wear colored heels for a gorgeous Christmas look. Go all black; dress, blazer/cardi, tights. Then, work that pop of color with heels or ankle booties. Red is super-festive, but I also think unexpected holiday colors, like electric blue, are a great way to break out of the mold.

Wide-leg pant + Sparkle. I love a great wide-leg pant and heel for any occasion. As a top, work your look around a cardigan to stay warm in the cold weather. Add a pretty, long cardi into the mix and belt it, or wear a classic three-quarter sleeve cardigan open… then, work a sparkly piece! If you go with the first option, try a glittery belt or clutch. The second option? Choose a pretty sequined top. A tank or embellished tee that hits at the hip will work well.

And don’t forget: When re-charging a look you’ve already worn before, make sure to take a few beauty risks. Red lips were made for Christmas, and an eye with a touch of glitter near the corners will be ultra-glam for any party.

How do you plan to re-work looks you already own for the rest of the holiday season?
