Music for Relaxation’s Sake: Keep Yourself Calm
Relaxing can be hard after a long, heavy day, but it’s necessary to keep your mind and soul sane. Nothing’s uglier than a relaxation deprived soul. It’s restless, and oh, so moody.
For some, a key element to relaxation is quiet. Sinking into a silent abyss where there are no screaming children, barking dogs or nagging clients is important for many ladies.
I’m not one of those women. In fact, absolute silence is completely unnerving to me. Rather than quieting my mind it totally scrambles my brain until it’s a whirlwind of wild thoughts and bizarre ponderings.
I’m also not a fan of nature sounds. If I found bawking birds relaxing, I’d live in the rainforest. If I wanted to listen to lamenting whales, I’d spend more time at the aquarium. Instead, I turn on a variety of soft, melodic, familiar music that hush my thinker. After all, what was the MP3 player invented for?
Some of my favorite relaxing music selections include:
Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley
Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel
That’s Why They Call It the Blues by Elton John
Angel by Aerosmith
Operator by Jim Croce
Your Song by Elton John
Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton
Lady in Red by Chris de Burgh
Careless Whisper by Wham
And I have a kajillion more. If you have trouble quieting your thoughts to enjoy some well-deserved relaxation, try making your own play list.
