Therapeutic Beauty: Tips to Calm Down and Beautify
For better or worse, I’m the type of person that needs to have a to-do list in the morning and a list of checked off accomplishments at night. And before I go to bed, the to-do list for the next day needs to be made, or else it is very, very difficult for me to fall asleep.
I laugh at myself when I put “relax!” on a to-do list, but it’s true: if I don’t make the time to structure it into my days, I won’t make the time for it at all, because I’m the type of person that doesn’t believe in a better feeling than a task checked off a to-do list.
So, in an effort to make my life easier, I’ve decided to share my “relax!” to-do list for tomorrow with all of you. I’ve listed the relaxation tips based on time needed to complete. So you can fit a little relaxation into your day, while adding to your beauty regime.
One Minute of Beauty and Relaxation
Spend an extra minute before bed and when you wake up, giving your teeth and gums a thorough cleaning and washing your hands. But instead of rushing through, take one extra minute to focus on massaging your gums with your toothbrush, giving yourself a little hand massage with some lotion or just some hand soap. We store the majority of stress in our jaws and our hands: spend an extra minute to massage and relax those muscles and tendons, and you will feel a significant, relaxing difference!
Five Minutes of Beauty and Relaxation
Set your alarm five minutes early, wake up, and do some soft yoga stretches for three minutes. Spend the next two minutes rubbing down your calves, hamstrings, arms, elbows, neck and back with some body oil or lotion. Do the same thing at night before you go to bed: just give yourself those five minutes to relax, clear your mind, and stretch out your body to break out of the cramped positions we sit in all day long.
15 Minutes of Beauty and Relaxation
Give yourself a homemade facial with sugar and honey exfoliating scrub, honey and carrot face mask, and cooling cucumber eye covers. Prepare the facials for five minutes, give yourself the exfoliating experience for two, and rest on your bed with the facial on for the next eight minutes. While resting, don’t think about what you should be doing next, instead focus on relaxing every part of your body, slowly, starting with the toes then working up through your knees, waist, chest, neck, and the tip of your forehead.
30 Minutes of Beauty and Relaxation
Give yourself a full-on homemade nail-painting session. Pair up with a daughter, sister, co-worker or friend to spend 30 minutes painting your nails. You’ll feel like schoolgirls again on a slumber party, but it will feel good and you will feel beautiful. When else do you give yourself that much time to do your nails? Now they won’t be smudged!
Hopefully these will give you some good suggestions of ways to beautify and relax without taking an entire day at the spa! Please share some of your own relaxation techniques, I’m all ears!
