On the Road Again: Travel Beauty

Memorial Day weekend was a big time for movement: we were all in transit from college, from the beach, from a relative’s or even just from a barbeque. Travel can be harsh on your skin, face, makeup, and hair: you get dehydrated from the sun though you don’t realize it, you are shocked to find you can be sunburned through the windows of a car or airplane, and you have to put yourself through the trauma of rest-stop bathrooms. There are a few beauty tips and strategies I can give you to make sure your post-travel skin isn’t anything less than fabulous.

Remember, the key to good beauty on the go is hydration and sanitation. You are going to be sitting in one place for a while, or maybe you are going to be biking or hiking or traveling: regardless of the strain, it’s now officially summertime and you are going to be dehydrated! Fill up a reusable water bottle and keep on filling throughout the trip. Also, keep in mind that you will be confronted with lots of germs: think of the money at the tollbooths, and how many hands have exchanged that money. Think about the restroom bathrooms, that never seem to have enough soap or paper towels. Keep your health in mind: eat well, stay strong, stay happy, and enjoy the ride. Here are a couple products you should invest in to maintain all of these things!

1. Hand Sanitizer. This is an absolute must: we remember swine flu from not so long ago. While we may not have an epidemic right now, we do have standard germs and diseases. Protect yourself, your family and your friends with hand sanitizer.

2. Oil Wipes for your Face. You will get sweaty and oily on the go, but remember those rest-stop bathrooms: you are probably not going to want to break out the face wash. Invest in some travel-size wipes that wick away the oil: you’ll feel so much cleaner and happier!

3. Chapstick. Where there’s wicking away moisture, heat, and dehydration, there must be chapstick to offset your crusting lips.

Good luck, stay strong, and enjoy the ride! Sometimes it’s the little things that are even more exciting and memorable than the destination.
