Style Your Brows: Threading, Plucking, Waxing

Your eyebrows are an important feature on your face. Your brows should frame your face naturally and create a geometric look to enhance  your eyes and nose. The length of your  brows and arch should add more focus on the shape of your face in addition to the width of your eyes and nose. Some women prefer waxing over plucking while others prefer to practice an old eastern ritual of threading. But which one is most effective?

Waxing: This is an easier alternative than other procedures to remove hair all at once. It is a long-lasting method that removes hair and prevents it from growing much longer than tweezing or threading. Although it can be very painful, the wax strip removes the uppermost skin layer which can be harmful for those with sensitive skin. Check out some at-home wax kits to do it yourself!

Plucking: This hair removal process is the quickest and easiest way to remove unwanted strays. With a good set of styled eyebrowstweezers, you can define your brows by removing each and every individual hair. This is the most cost effective way for those that do not want to spend a lot of money going to a beauty salon, and it’s great if you have sensitive skin. Check out these tweezers that are designed for coarse hair.

Threading: Defining your brows with threading makes a faster and less messy way to remove strays. It is a method used with a thread of twisted cotton between your fingers and removes hair from the root (much faster and less painful than plucking or waxing). Since it is a natural way to remove your unwanted strays, it is actually more gentle on skin and does not require chemicals. Check out Smarter’s selection of threading supplies!

I choose to do all three… I feel that there is not one brow method that is better than the other. I think what is most important is knowing what eyebrow shape is most flattering for you. Leave it to the professionals! Although, I do spend money to go to a professional I have them help me shape and perfectly define my brow.

Over time, I use my own tweezers and pluck any unwanted hairs to keep and maintain the shape of the professional. By going to the salon once a month, I am able to keep my brows intact by tweezing every other day.  This helps me save money and provide myself with quick fixes throughout my beauty rituals.

How do you do your brow?
