Reduce, Recycle and Reuse: MAC and Origins Cosmetics
For more than a decade, I started getting into more pigmented eyeshadow colors and department store makeup. I was getting older
and more mature, so I was willingness to splurge a little on cosmetics. I opted for MAC cosmetics with its ultra-trendy shades each season and array of bold colors to choose from.
The past couple years, I wanted to cut down on using such harsh chemicals in my products, and I was looking for something more natural and skin-friendly. After using the lip glaze from Origins, I fell in love with a gloss named “Poppy.” I soon become more accustomed to the the entire Origins product line. With my two favorite cosmetics brands, I have learned they have been appreciative to their customers as well (giving back to the community and attempts to help save our mother earth). See below on how we can reduce, recycle and reuse with these makeup mavens:
MAC Cosmetics
Reduce: Cut down on lip gloss and use Vaseline or ointment to apply over lips. The texture will hold lip color and hydrate lips while creating a sheen finish
Recycle: Bring in six empty MAC containers and receive a free complimentary full size lipstick when bringing empty packages to the makeup counter. Try a “Viva Glam” lipstick (a luxurious red tone that complements most skin colors).
Reuse: There is usually extra lipstick available in the tube that cannot be seen. Stick a lipstick brush and scoop out excess color onto your lips. Do not give up on your color when there is nothing left to twist up, it is still good enough to last for several weeks.
Origins
Reduce: Cut down on blushes and shadows by using a pale pink shadow. When applied under the eyes, it can help conceal dark circles when used underneath your concealer. Also use as all over shadow along entire lid, and brush gently along cheekbones for a beautiful effect.
Recycle: Bring in empty products of the Origins cosmetics, skincare, or haircare line to the store. In exchange, you will receive complimentary skin care samples to try at home. Your used products will help you search for a new product. Giving you a trial run from samples provided will help you on your next purchase.
Reuse: Try using an eyeliner brush and dip it gently into your mascara tube. The ingredients have the same effect as a liquid liner and has a long lasting and waterproof advantage.
