Hair Dare: Trim It Yourself!
With my hair tresses being medium in length, I prefer to keep it sitting nicely below my shoulders and not any longer than the back of where my bra strap sits. In order to keep longer lengths looking healthy, it is important that a bimonthly trim is needed. This will keep the hair looking healthy and well-maintained. Since I have been frugal these days, I have been neglecting my trims and considered doing it myself. Yikes! Do I dare? Anything to keep my ends from looking dry and drab, almost looking like the tail of My Little Pony. Read below for some quick simple tips on how to trim your own hair:
- Wash hair thoroughly and remember to condition

- Leave hair strands wet or damp and comb through
- Lean over and comb all of your hair straight forward
- Take 1-2″ sections of your hair starting from the side; and cut a small amount (to be safe start with 3/4 of an inch or less)
- Continue trimming hair from one side to the other
- Check hair has been trimmed equally. Stand upright and part hair in the middle and comb through again
- Run through each small section, and make sure all strands are at even lengths. If there are excess pieces, simply snip and make same as others
