Current Hair Fashions, Wigs, and Headwear Posted By : James Smi

In today's world of hustle and bustle, it is hard to keep up with the ever-changing fashion and social trends. When it comes to hair and headwear trends, everyone wants to look their best. The challenge is looking your best without the fuss. One growing trend among women who have to look great in a snap is the use of wigs. With a wide variety of women's wigs to choose from it is possible to create any style you wish.

Hair Color Trends: New Year, New Do!

Hair color trends are like clothing trends and are ever changing. Depending on silhouettes and color direction for each fashion season, a hair color trend will complement the overall seasonal look.  When deciding to alter your hair color, it is imperative that it complements your skin tone and hairstyle. If you choose to go for a new color this season, the hair color trends for 2010 are Platinum Blondes and Redheads.

Platinum Blondes: From Marilyn Monroe to Gwen Stefani, women from the past years have rocked this hair color ever since and have looked good doing it. Now, more and more celebs are choosing to upgrade their treasured tresses from gold locks to platinum! Besides Britney Spears and Charlize Theron, other style icons like Lily Allen and supermodel Kate Moss have been going brighter and lighter. This color looks great fair skin tones, unless you want that overprocessed typical Hollywood look.

Redheads: Isla Fisher, Julianne Moore, and Lindsay Lohan are well known for their red hot locks. This season and new year will bring out the fire in us all. This color trend can be easily manipulated into different shade variations to flatter most skin tones. Neutral makeup, like violet and greens, complement red hair best.

With my olive skin tone, I cannot pull of a fiery redhead or a platinum blonde look. My personal choice would be to go with a tint of the red. As a brunette, it would be best for me to stick to a natural look and accent it with a red tone. I feel that the new color trends are perfect to pull off into the spring. Blondes and redheads will easily garnish new seasonal colors such as lilacs, canary yellow, and turquoise. These hair color choices are reliable not only for winter, but also for the spring fashion collections. As we end this year with overspending and overprocessed hair, seek a practical hair process that works with your hair and financial situation. Seek professional advice by a good colorist at your salon. Also, check out Smarter and see which hair color would work best for you.

Inside an Artist’s Rolling Makeup Case

Rolling makeup cases are used by professionals to compartmentalize and transport their tools. When put to work, these artists need as much order and arrangement to prepare them for a fast-paced environment. Cases are comprised of compartments and trays that are at times adjustable and can be pulled up and out of the base. These shelving units are tray dividers (can also be adjustable) that can hold makeup supplies such as brushes and pencils, to cotton balls and tissue. Rolling makeup cases have mobility from  skate wheels that are built onto a tool box. Other special features of these makeup cases are trusty locks and built in makeup stations (such as mirrors and lights).

“The secret of all victory lies in the organization of the non-obvious”

-Marcus Aurelius

So I just got off the phone with my talented friend Jason Sanchez, a cosmetology instructor and fashion makeup artist. He gives me the organization tips on how he fills up his rolling makeup case. According to Sanchez, a rolling makeup case should be organized into three parts: 1) working tools, 2) staples, and 3) product.

brushes

Working Tools: These are the items that will always be replaced (i.e. brushes, cotton, qtips, tissues, cleansers, false lashes, lotion, etc.)

Staples: Cosmetics that will work on anyone anywhere. Or that work in a “pinch” (i.e. natural color choices, and a few bold colors that will make a statement)

Product: All other items (i.e. foundation, eye shadow options, lipsticks, liners, powder and more)
